HMS Royal Sovereign was a 100-gun first-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1786. She was the lead ship of her class of three ships, designed by Sir Thomas Slade.

The Royal Sovereign had a long and distinguished career, serving in various naval engagements throughout the Napoleonic Wars and the French Revolutionary Wars. She participated in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where she was heavily engaged in combat and suffered significant damage.
